Early Careers
We're here to support your induction to Microsoft
Once you’ve secured an offer of employment from us, and got your start date in the diary, that’s when the fun starts!
Your journey as a Microsoft apprentice starts from the moment you receive your offer
You’ll receive this via email and will need to sign it and email back to us so that we can get everything ready for your start day.
Next you’ll be invited to an interactive virtual welcome day
Here you will get the chance to meet the Microsoft Early in Career team, current apprentices and your peers who you will start with. During your welcome day you will gain an insight into how Microsoft UK works, their culture and start to build your network.
Behind the scenes…
The Early in Careers team will be supporting you with your employment checks ensuring your readiness for Day 1 of your programme.
Your first day on the job
The Microsoft team will take you through 2 weeks of onboarding where you will take a deep dive into our UK business, learn more about what Microsoft does as an organisation, the culture and how technology is evolving.
During the induction you will be introduced to the Apprentice Community
A group of current apprentices that ensure you stay connected and supported throughout your time with Microsoft. And the Microsoft team will also spend time helping you to understand our systems and tools helping you to feel ready to start with your teams when you land in the business.
The support doesn’t end there
You’ll have ongoing support from your apprentice peers, your manager and the Early in Career team to help guide you through your Microsoft journey.
<h3>What's our process?</h3> <p>Our process is all about understanding your potential. We can teach you the skills.</p> <h3>1. Application Questions:</h3> <p>This is used to understand whether you meet the eligibility for the programme. We do not screen based on your CV.</p> <p>If you meet the eligibility requirements, the GetMyFirstJob team will invite you through to the next stage of the process</p> <h3>2. Microsoft Apprentice Strengths-Based Video Interview:</h3> <p>Care is at the heart of everything we do. We understand that when people get to use their strengths, they are engaged, happier, and more likely to achieve their goals. This part of the process is delivered via a one-way interview using the MyInterview system where you will answer a set of questions. The best bit about this, is you can record it whenever you like, at a time that suits you and when you feel comfortable.</p> <p>You’ll also get two chances to record each question and then pick your favourite answer to submit – so there’s no need to worry if you go wrong the first time.</p> <h3>3. Manager & Team Interview:</h3> <p>Meet your potential new team. The highest scoring candidates will then be invited to the next stage of the process. If you are in this group then you will then you will be invited to a virtual interview with a manager and a team member. For most roles this is the final assessment stage of the process, and after this hiring decisions will be made. If you have applied for the Customer Technical Solutions or Xbox Studios Quality Engineer Apprenticeships there will be a further assessment which will take place with the learning provider. After this, final hiring decisions will be made for the programme.</p>
<p>As an apprentice you are a key part of our mission. As a software company you may think we only hire technical roles, however there are many different job roles at Microsoft, we aren’t all coding! No matter what interests you or what skills you have, we hire apprentices across our business from technical, sales and our corporate business. You name it, there is something for everyone.</p> <p>To support you throughout your apprenticeship, we will offer full training to grow your skills as well as the opportunity to take part in community events and, of course, a competitive salary.</p>
