Q&A with Dinda
I work with the Chief Operating Officer with principal missions in business administration, finance and accounting, internal control and risk management, and internal events organisation. I also take part in some internal projects, for example, I’m currently working on a SharePoint maintenance project. My favourite part of my role is Project Management. I’m assigned to implement our first SharePoint and in doing this was work a lot with the project leader to help organise the team.
One of the proudest moments within my apprenticeship was when my supervisor expressed her satisfaction with my work and that she wanted to keep me on after my apprenticeship has ended! I originally chose to complete an apprenticeship as I wanted some professional experience while also achieving a degree.
"Don’t underestimate yourself – focus on your strengths instead of your weaknesses.”If you’re considering an apprenticeship, my advice would be to take your time to choose the right degree and the right company. As a foreigner in a different country, it wasn’t easy at all to find a company as I had to compete with French applicants. I underestimated myself at the time and was not comfortable with my French-speaking skills. But I found a company interested in my application. The fact that such a large company hired me made me realise that I needed to focus on my strengths and not on my weaknesses.
My employers have given me the training to continue to develop my current skills and even gain new ones to help further my prospects. I have also been given support from my training providers, such as a dedicated tutor who follows up on our progress since the beginning of our course. They are there to help us prepare for our final exams.
I am planning on continuing in my Management degree apprenticeship to achieve my Bachelor’s degree. My employer has proposed to even extend my apprenticeship contract for my third year. If you’re interested in pursuing an apprenticeship, focus on your strengths. Be confident and let others see it!
