Q&A with Ava
I am dyslexic and learn better from doing a job hands on – I knew university wouldn’t suit me but felt a lot of pressure as everyone around me my age was doing just that! I’m so glad I took this apprenticeship!
As part of my day-to-day job, I source venues, hold team meetings and create fun activities for the floor to take part in. I also go to shoots and help direct when we are filming – I edit, create and communicate with others to bring events together. Because of this I have learnt a lot of key skills I wouldn’t have been able to otherwise! The most exciting project I’ve worked on was at Cowdray House Estate, and my proudest moment so far has been creating the goggle box reel for the AA.
Channel 4 have been amazing in supporting me with my dyslexia – I have been able to install the Grammarly app, and they regularly give me tasks to explore and so many more opportunities. An apprenticeship is great for those like me who want to learn on the job and experience work first hand!
