Role overview:

As an SEO Apprentice, you will support the delivery of SEO strategies across a range of client accounts. Working closely with experienced members of the SEO team, you will help with research, audits, analysis, reporting and implementation tracking while developing your understanding of how SEO works alongside content, digital PR, PPC and wider digital marketing activity.


Duties and responsibilities:

• Support the SEO team with the delivery of SEO strategies across a range of client accounts.

• Assist with SEO audits, research and analysis, including keyword research, competitor analysis, search intent mapping and on-page SEO reviews.

• Help identify technical SEO issues and opportunities, including crawl errors, broken links, indexing issues, site speed considerations and content quality improvements.

• Support on-page optimisation activity across client websites, including title tags, meta descriptions, headings, internal linking and body copy improvements.

• Work with Content and Digital PR teams to identify opportunities that support client SEO strategies, including content gaps, search trends and authority-building activity.

• Monitor organic search performance to identify trends, opportunities and areas for improvement across client campaigns.

• Support the preparation of weekly and monthly client reports and performance updates using data from SEO and analytics platforms.

• Develop knowledge of platforms and tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, Semrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog and STAT.

• Assist with the implementation and tracking of SEO recommendations, working collaboratively with internal marketing teams, developers and other stakeholders.

• Keep up to date with developments and trends across SEO, search engines and the wider digital marketing industry.


Skills required

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong online research skills and an interest in understanding how people search online.
  • Good attention to detail when working with data, website content and reporting documents.
  • Confident using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Comfortable working with spreadsheets, website data, presentations and basic reporting documents.
  • Interest in SEO, search engines, digital marketing, content and performance reporting.

Qualifications required

GCSEs in English and Maths, grade 4/C or above, or equivalent.

Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 3 Digital Marketing and AI Executive and Certified Digital Marketing Professional by DMI, with training in how to:

  • Master the art of crafting compelling content tailored for diverse audiences and a variety of marketing channels, ensuring sensitivity and effectiveness in communication.
  • Analyse and integrate information from the multi-channel marketing landscape to inform and optimise both short-term tactics and long-term strategies.
  • Implement secure, innovative solutions using a broad spectrum of digital tools and platforms, ensuring seamless user experiences while achieving marketing objectives.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews and analyses of multi-channel marketing activities, measuring success and providing actionable recommendations for enhancement.
  • Create and interpret insightful analytical dashboards utilising advanced digital tools, facilitating data-driven decision-making.
