Senior Equine Groom - Showjumping Yard

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior equine groom to work at a professional yard run by Johnathan Shudall. If you are looking for the next stage in your career and would like to travel abroad and gain experience on the international show jumping circuit, this could be the apprenticeship for you!

All general yard duties to include:

  • Mucking out / keeping yard area tidy

  • Feeding / filling haynets and water buckets

  • Turning in and out

  • Picking out feet / rugging up

  • Grooming / Tacking up

  • Tack Cleaning

  • Bathing / Show Prep

  • Lunging / long reining

  • Holding for farrier / vet / dentist

  • Riding possible for competent applicant who can walk trot canter both in the arena and out hacking )

  • Possibility of grooming at shows ( again yard dependent )

Working Hours - 5 days out of 7, on a rota basis. Please expect weekend work in this role

The client is happy to accept a rider or non-rider for this position. If a rider, you must be competent as the location only have competition fit horses.

Livery possible for your own horse if required. There is no accommodation available, however it is accessible by public transport, and very close to a bus stop, and 1 mile from the train station. Please make sure you can get to and from the yard daily before applying for this role.

Working towards a Level 3 Senior Equine Groom apprenticeship standard. All training will be provided on site during your paid working hours. Your day to day mentoring will be with your employer, and a combination of online and in person monthly sessions will be held with your Haddon Training Trainer Coach.

  • GCSE English (Grade 4) essential

  • GCSE Maths (Grade 4) essential
