About Company
DTP Group is a Leeds-based IT solutions provider and value-added reseller delivering enterprise infrastructure, end-user computing, managed print, IT asset disposition (ITAD) and associated managed services to public- and private-sector customers across the UK. We partner with leading technology vendors including HP, HPE and Epson. Our Leeds HQ includes warehouse and configuration facilities supporting device preparation, lifecycle management and secure ITAD processing. DTP operates ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 27001 (Information Security) and ISO 14001 (Environmental) certified management systems.
Based within DTP's Leeds warehouse and Configuration team, the apprentice will primarily support our growing IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) workload, while also assisting with printer/device pre-delivery configuration and wider Configuration team activities.
The Role
Under supervision, you will help receive, identify, scan and record customer IT assets; carry out visual and functional checks; support approved secure data-sanitisation processes; and prepare equipment for reuse, refurbishment, recycling or onward shipment. Accurate asset records and a clear audit trail are essential because the team handles customer-owned equipment and potentially data-bearing devices.
You will also support the preparation and configuration of printers, multifunction devices and other IT hardware before delivery. This will involve working from build/configuration instructions, applying settings or firmware where required, testing equipment, diagnosing basic issues and escalating more complex faults.
The role provides varied, practical experience across IT hardware, asset lifecycle management, technical configuration, troubleshooting and operational support. You will work closely with colleagues across Operations, Configuration, Engineering and Service teams and will be expected to follow DTP's information security, data protection, health and safety, environmental and quality procedures at all times.
Duties:
• Receive, identify, scan and accurately record ITAD assets and flag any discrepancies.
• Support approved data sanitisation, validation and audit-trail processes for data-bearing equipment.
• Carry out visual/functional checks, basic diagnostics, grading/segregation and preparation for reuse, refurbishment, recycling or onward shipment.
• Configure and test printers/MFPs and other IT equipment against build or customer specifications.
• Troubleshoot basic hardware/configuration issues, document actions and escalate where required.
• Support stock handling, staging, labelling, packing and other Configuration team workload.
• Maintain accurate records using company systems, spreadsheets and asset files.
• Follow DTP security, data protection, ISO 27001/9001, environmental/WEEE and H&S procedures.
