Job duties;

  • Bookkeeping and bank reconciliations in QuickBooks and Xero.

  • Preparing VAT returns.

  • Helping prepare year-end accounts and working papers.

  • Supporting self-assessment tax returns.

  • Processing payroll and pensions.

  • Client onboarding and AML/ID checks.

  • Dealing with client queries by email and phone.

  • General admin and keeping client records up to date.

  • Business Development.

Confident with Microsoft Excel and Office, good written English, basic numeracy. No accounting experience needed, as full training is given.

Qualifications required

GCSE's grades 9/A* - 4/C including Maths and English.

Training you'll get

This apprenticeship is a perfect match for someone without any accountancy or bookkeeping knowledge. On this programme they will learn the building blocks of the modern accountant. Not only will they grasp the fundamentals of bookkeeping, but we will help them develop those vital skills and behaviours to enable them to put their knowledge into action.

If you’re new to accountancy and finance, looking to change your career into accountancy or have previously worked in an accounts department this level is ideal for you. You don’t need any prior experience working in accounts to study AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting. There are no entry requirements, but you do need good maths, IT and English skills, and a willingness to learn.

You’ll learn a broad range of core accounting skills, including double-entry bookkeeping and basic costing as well as accountancy related business skills and personal skills.

You must successfully complete the following:

  • Introduction to Bookkeeping (ITBK)

  • Principles of Bookkeeping Control (POBC)

  • Principles of Costing (PCTN)

  • Business Environment (BESY)

Future prospects

Clear path from AAT Level 3 to Level 4, then on to ACCA/ACA or a specialist role in tax, payroll or accounts. Real opportunity to progress into a senior or management role as the group grows.
