Early years apprenticeship - Rocking Horse Nursery

Rocking Horse Day Nursery established in 1992 and based in the unique setting of Newbury Racecourse, we have extensive experience in nurturing the early development of children and in August 2015, we moved to a brand new, purpose-built nursery. Our vision is to provide the highest possible quality of care for the children who are entrusted to us. We have planned the building meticulously with experts to create a bespoke nursery designed to meet the modern demands of childhood.

Monday - Friday, between 8.00am - 6.00pm. Includes 1 hour unpaid lunch. 40 hours a week1 yearCommunication skills, Organisation skills, Problem solving skills, Team working, Creative, Initiative, Non judgemental, Patience, Physical fitness, Caring, Kind

GCSE in:

• English (grade 4)
• Maths (grade 4)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements

Childcare is not about playing with babies all day. There will be a variety of activities to plan and deliver each day. You may have key children that you look after and will have to communicate with staff, children, managers and parents at the nursery. There will be a lot of cleaning to do and you may have to work long hours, although this will vary with each employer. It is hard work but it is very rewarding.

After this apprenticeship

• Learners can use this qualification to go into various care roles
• You can progress onto the advanced apprenticeship and work your way up in the nursery going into team leading and management roles
• You could also use your experience to go into teaching, nursing, midwifery, play work and social work
• There are many directions you can go with your apprenticeship should you wish
