Other requirements
Appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and safeguarding checks. The apprentice will work in a school EYFS setting and must follow school policies on safeguarding, confidentiality, equality, health and safety and behaviour. The course includes regular HOET educator sessions and assessment through a portfolio/professional discussion and knowledge test. First aid is required in line with EYFS requirements.

It is hoped, but not guaranteed, that a full offer of employment may be available at the end of the apprenticeship. The qualification also supports progression into roles such as Early Years Educator, Nursery Practitioner, Preschool Practitioner, Reception Class Assistant or Childcare Practitioner, with a longer-term pathway towards Level 5 Early Years Lead Practitioner.
