The Reality of Salon Life: Working as an apprentice in the hairdressing industry isn’t all glamour; there are everyday tasks that everyone, at every level, is expected to do. While you’ll have dedicated time to learn and perfect your hairdressing skills, a big part of your role will involve supporting and assisting other team members to ensure the salon runs smoothly. As an apprentice, you’ll be the face of the salon, often the first person clients meet. That means taking pride in your appearance is essential. While we encourage individuality and personal style, a smart, professional appearance is a must. You’ll also need to be prepared to work Saturdays and late evenings, as these are key times in the hairdressing industry. The salon environment is fast-paced and ever-changing, so staying alert, enthusiastic, and proactive is vital.
