We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Building Services Engineer - Electrical to join our Advisory team - a vibrant, inclusive community that celebrates our differences and makes a real impact across the UK.

The Role

As a Building Services Engineer - Electrical, you will play a key role in the delivery of technically sound electrical engineering solutions across a diverse range of multidisciplinary projects. Working alongside experienced engineers and project teams, you will contribute to the preparation and delivery of designs, calculations, specifications and technical documentation that meet quality, cost and programme objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Produce technically sound electrical building services designs in accordance with client requirements, technical standards and industry best practice.
  • Prepare electrical calculations, drawings, specifications, reports and technical documentation.
  • Design and coordinate electrical building services systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, security systems and associated infrastructure.
  • Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to deliver successful project outcomes.
  • Develop practical, innovative and compliant design solutions for a variety of project types.
  • Support the delivery of projects while ensuring quality, programme and budget objectives are achieved.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers and key stakeholders throughout project delivery.
  • Undertake site visits, inspections, surveys and technical assessments as required.
  • Identify, assess and communicate project hazards and risks.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and welfare requirements, including the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
  • Coordinate design information with other disciplines to support integrated project delivery.
  • Support project delivery across a variety of sectors including Defence, Justice, Education, Transport and Rail.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement through innovation, knowledge sharing and best practice.

What you will bring to us

  • Degree, HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Working towards, or possessing, Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
  • Membership of, or progression towards membership of, a relevant professional institution such as IET or CIBSE.
  • Good understanding of electrical engineering theory and principles with the ability to apply them in practice.
  • Experience designing electrical building services systems including lighting, power and associated infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of Building Regulations and relevant industry standards.
  • Understanding of technical design and specification processes.
  • Experience using industry-standard design software and analytical tools.
  • Experience using AutoCAD, Revit and BIM methodologies.
  • Good commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery requirements.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Understanding of CDM Regulations and risk assessment principles.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively to programme deadlines.

Desirable

  • Experience within a building services consultancy environment.
  • Experience delivering projects within Defence, Justice, Education, Rail, Transport or other public sector environments.
  • Experience using electrical design and calculation software.
  • BIM and digital design experience.
  • Experience undertaking site surveys and inspections.
  • Experience supporting bid preparation and business development activities.
  • CSCS card.
  • Experience coordinating with external stakeholders, contractors and suppliers.
