You will be working in a busy BMW/MINI Bodyshop, where you will be responsible for repairing accident-damaged motor vehicles to the high standards of the BMW/MINI brand. All BMW Bodyshop Apprentices attend a centralised body training facility in Doncaster for their off-the-job training. This centre is equipped with BMW Cars and BMW Colour Systems to ensure that apprentices are trained to the highest standards. The role of a Bodyshop ART Technician Apprentice includes elements of both specialisms.
Accident Repair Technician Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- The removal, repair, and refitting of panels and components
- Welding techniques
- Panel beating
- Dent removal
- Vehicle Damage Assessments
- The preparation and application of foundation materials and topcoat
- Awareness of different paint systems, paint equipment, and special effect paints
- Quality vehicle checks
- Vehicle damage assessments
- Steering, suspension, brakes, wheels and tyres.
- Basic engines and transmission
- Panel repair processes and refurbishment techniques
- Application of paint, primer and base coats. topcoats, clear coats and refinishing processes
- Vehicle body misalignment and welding
- ADAS systems and emerging technology
Successful applicants must demonstrate the following:

• A positive attitude and work ethic, with a high level of professionalism
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy bodyshop environment, as well as having the capability to follow instructions and work individually
Successful applicants must be prepared to travel to the body training facility in Doncaster to complete their apprenticeship training. Training is completed in one-week blocks approximately once every two to three months. All training costs are covered by the BMW Retailer/Bodyshop (including travel, accommodation, and food). All Bodyshop Technician Apprentices will be employed at their local BMW Retailer or Bodyshop and will attend the body training facility in Doncaster for off-the-job training. Candidates will only be contacted if they meet the initial criteria for the BMW/MINI programme.
