For automotive please consider these tips below:


Start approaching garages local to you and offer to do work experience. The earlier you can do this the better, you can build a strong relationship with your employer which is a strong foundation for success in an apprenticeship.

If work experience goes well, speak with the owner/manager and see if they are in a position to take you on as an apprentice in September 2025.

If they can - please apply for the Level 2 Autocare Technician apprenticeship via the college website.

If they can't - please don't be disheartened. Add the experience to your CV and approach more garages.


The Level 2 Autocare Technician apprenticeship is where all apprentices will start unless they have completed a previous automotive apprenticeship. The Autocare apprenticeship will give you basic skills in mechanics, customer service and health and safety and is the best start to your automotive career.


You will achieve a Level 2 IMI qualification and be able to progress onto either the Level 3 Light or Heavy vehicle apprenticeship.
