Every day is different in a RAFAKidz nursery, and you will have the opportunity share and grow your skills working with our children, colleagues and families. At RAFAKidz, there is a friendly, passionate and experienced team to support you, along with access to high quality training.
Located on station at RAF Worthy Down, we are proud to serve military personnel, families, and the local community by providing experiences that are special, unique and child focused.
Main purpose of the role:
- To work as part of a team to deliver a high standard of learning, development and care for children aged 0-5 years.
- To ensure that the nursery is a safe environment for children, staff and others.
- To support the development of partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child’s development.
- To maintain records that fulfil Ofsted requirements as laid out in the EYFS
- Ensure the Safeguarding of children and staff within the setting
- To actively participate in specific areas of nursery activity working and playing with children
- To support designated Key Persons with their responsibilities for a number of identified children, gaining knowledge required to become a Key Person.

Skills Required
- A good understanding of maintaining confidentiality regarding all aspects of nursery work.
- Previous experience, working or volunteering as child minder, in a Preschool or Nursery setting
- An understanding of the key principles of safeguarding children
- Able to demonstrate understanding of Child development or the Early Years Foundation Stage
Qualifications Required
- GCSE Maths/English or equivalent, or willingness to work towards the required level of functional skills alongside the apprenticeship.
- Option for skills Bootcamp course to start accelerated apprenticeship at level 3 for the right candidate.
Training
Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. RAFAKidz will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day.
You will be working towards the Level 3 Early Years Educator apprenticeship standard, which includes:
• Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours
• Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Educator
• Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid or Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid
• Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
This will be delivered through RAFAKidz ‘s dedicated training provider, Realise.
Realise is an established training provider that’s enjoying an exciting period of growth following a management buyout and rebrand in late 2020.

- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to write clear and accurate records
- Ability to competently use IT for report writing, outlook, online training etc
- Calm, caring and unflustered
- Approachable, cheerful and engaging personality
