Opportunity Details

Salary: £22,048 per annum plus Veolia benefits

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, from 7:30 am to 16:00 pm

Location: Quartremaine Road, Portsmouth, Hampshire. PO3 5QH

Programme Duration: Up to 42 months


Candidate shortlisting will take place w/c 28th April - 5th May, with assessment days between w/c 12th - 19th May.

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical, Control, and Instrumentation Apprentice to join the team at Veolia’s Energy Recovery Facility in Portsmouth. This role offers the chance to learn about new and innovative technologies that will enhance operations for years to come.

  • You will be exposed to all aspects of the process, from plant operating techniques to preventative maintenance and emergency breakdown repairs
  • Involvement in various plant efficiency improvements due to continuous advancements in technology, requiring the development of new skills and the integration of new equipment on site
  • Completion of planned preventative maintenance, overhauls, and planned shutdown works
  • Modifying, rewiring, fault-finding, testing, and inspecting equipment
  • Identifying plant improvements and engineering solutions
  • Maintaining high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance on site

Skills Required

  • Ability to follow health and safety policies and procedures and willing to challenge unsafe behaviour
  • Good problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new skills
  • Good Interpersonal Skills
  • Ability to work with others
  • Full UK driving licence (Desirable but not essential)

Qualifications Required

  • A minimum of 4 GCSEs Grade 4/C (or equivalent) achieved or predicted, including Maths, English & preferably Science

Training

During the programme, apprentices will develop practical and behavioural skills while gaining the technical and professional knowledge required to succeed in their careers.


In addition, apprentices will achieve:

  • A Level 3 Instrumentation and Control Engineering BTEC
  • An NVQ Competency Certificate
  • Safety training

With many of Veolia’s colleagues starting their careers as apprentices, full support and guidance will be provided throughout the programme.

By the end of the apprenticeship, apprentices will have received industry-standard training and attained qualifications that will enable them to progress and reach their full potential.
