Opportunity Details
Tiny Treasures Day Nursery provides a happy, friendly learning environment for children aged 3 months until five years old.
They are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated apprentice to join their team to complete a Level 3 early years educator alongside an award winning training provider.
You will carry out different types of observation, evaluate and plan for your children. If there are any concerns about a child, these should be discussed during supervision or immediately if urgent. Everyday activities such as trips to the shops should be included in the planning, especially for full-time children.
Day to day duties include;
•Observe and help plan/carryout activities with the children that are developmentally appropriate for groups and individuals whilst providing a balance of indoor/outdoor learning opportunities
•To write reports- for key children, 2 year old reports, school leaver reports and those requested by other professionals. You must accurately complete all in-house nursery paperwork.
•Staff must be able to recognise safeguarding concerns, report these to the correct people and understand referral procedures- be able to write reports for safeguarding or SEND if required either individually or with the support of colleagues and be familiar with the Common Assessment Framework (CAF)
•Provide a tidy and stimulating environment for the children using a wide range of equipment and create displays reflecting the children’s developmental progress and different cultural/religious family backgrounds.
•Encourage children to contribute to activities: ideas, practical eg: paint mixing, tidying up and to develop their confidence and independence amongst their peers/with adults. Set a good example by engaging with children at all times, especially mealtimes and providing a good balance of adult and child led play.
•Liaise with parents and feedback accurately on the child’s day. Set up parents meetings and record any new information provided by parents eg; changes to a child’s diet, making colleagues aware of these changes where appropriate. Offer opportunities to involve parents in nursery life. Contact parents if children are ill or have accidents and care properly for the child during the interim period before collection. When children move rooms you will need to prepare a plan to help children settle into their new rooms with the new keyworker and parents.
•Ensure the children are collected by known and authorised adults
•Undertake mentoring and initial training of students and new staff. Helping staff/students settle into the nursery and familiarise themselves with all aspects of the work until deemed competent.

Training
Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. Tiny Treasures Day Nursery will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day.
You will be working towards the Level 3 Early Years Educator apprenticeship standard, which includes:
• Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours
• Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Educator
• Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid or Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid
• Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
This will be delivered through Tiny Treasures Day Nursery's dedicated training provider, Realise.
