Skills Required

Qualifications Required

  • 2 A Levels grade A-C.

Business Studies – Offers insight into financial management and corporate structures.

Accounting – Directly relevant to finance roles, covering financial reporting and analysis.

Statistics – Helps with data interpretation and financial modelling.

Computer Science – Useful for financial technology (FinTech) and data analysis roles.

Geography – Can be relevant for economic and global financial trends.

Physics & Chemistry – Good for developing logical thinking and analytical skills. English & History – Helps with communication, report writing, and critical thinking.

Training

CIMA Level 4 - Certificate in Business Accounting

The Certificate in Business Accounting (Cert BA) is your starting point if you’re new to accountancy. You’ll learn the fundamentals of business economics, financial accounting, management accounting, and ethical considerations of commercial activity.

The CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting (Cert BA), gives you fundamental knowledge of business and accounting. After qualifying, you can progress onto the esteemed CIMA Professional levels, and become a chartered management accountant.

The course is made up of four mandatory subjects. You must pass all four subject assessments to be awarded the qualification.

The areas you will cover include:

  • Fundamentals of Business Economics

  • Fundamentals of Management Accounting

  • Fundamentals of Financial Accounting

  • Fundamentals of Ethics, Corporate Governance and Business Law

The Apprenticeship standard details the essential Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours that somebody would need to demonstrate to be successful in this job role, this includes, Business Awareness, Ethics, Communication, Leadership, Planning and Prioritisation and Problem Solving. Apprentices will need to show they are competent in all the areas detailed in the standard when they take End Point Assessment.

The Knowledge areas of the standard will typically be covered through completion of the qualification. Skills and Behaviours are developed through workshops, e-learning, workplace training and practical experience provided ‘on-the-job’.
