Clinical areas include cardiology, endoscopy, neurophysiology, respiratory and maternity. HD Clinical joined the Nexus Group (a European-based healthcare software organisation) in 2024 which will significantly extend our software range and potential customer base.
Overview:
The IT Support Apprentice is an entry-level role designed for individuals passionate about technology and eager to develop a solid foundation in IT infrastructure. You will support the IT team by assisting with basic troubleshooting tasks, configuring systems, and maintaining various IT environments under the guidance of experienced professionals. Your role will involve learning and applying core principles of IT, cloud computing, networking, and operating systems. You will gradually develop skills that enable you to communicate effectively with team members and eventually manage tasks independently, following appropriate training and mentoring.
Responsibilities:
- Provide initial technical support under supervision for various IT systems and environments.
- Document basic procedures, fixes, and configurations under guidance.
- Assist in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting basic Azure cloud services.

- Assist in providing support for Windows Server and desktop environments.
- Help administer basic tasks within Active Directory/Azure Entra ID, including user security settings and permissions.
- Assist with administration tasks in Microsoft 365, including Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) setups and user permissions.
Required skills:
- Basic understanding of IT infrastructure concepts and eagerness to learn.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving aptitude.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic familiarity with Windows operating systems
- Strong interest in cloud solutions, networking, and operating systems.
The following skills are also desirable (but not essential):
- Previous experience or exposure to IT support environments, either through work experience, projects, or academic coursework.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or similar.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (e.g., IP addressing, DNS, DHCP).
- Awareness of virtualisation technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Exposure to Microsoft 365 administration tasks.
Entry requirements:
- 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
- Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject
You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.
If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working hours:
35 hours per week.
