Overview:
The Cyber Security Technician Apprentice is part of the team, responsible for provision of the best possible ICT service to all users of the ICT systems provided by Cranford Community College. The post holder for this role is accountable to the ICT Service Manager for contributing to the ongoing development, application and monitoring of cybersecurity measures and timely completion of other IT service tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality technical support, advice and guidance to the staff and students.
- Assist with the installation and testing of new software and software updates / upgrades, always ensuring compliance with software licensing regulations and security implications.

Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality technical support, advice and guidance to the staff and students.
- Assist with the installation and testing of new software and software updates / upgrades, always ensuring compliance with software licensing regulations and security implications.
- Regularly check network traffic for unusual activity and potential security breaches.
- Help conduct periodic security audits to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with school policies.
- Assist in responding to security incidents, including documenting incidents and implementing corrective actions.
- Help maintain and update security software, firewalls, and other protective measures.
- Keep detailed records of security protocols, incidents, and updates to ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation.
Required skills:
- An IT technical background.
- Evidence of being a good communicator.
- Willing to work evenings and travel occasionally.
- Motivation to work with children and young people.
- Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people.
- Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours and attitudes to use of authority and maintaining discipline.
Additionally, the following experience would be beneficial:
- MCDST qualification (or working towards).
- Experience of IT service within an educational environment.
- Experience of working with audio visual equipment.
- Ability to identify and set key priorities.
Entry requirements:
- An A-Level in ICT
- OR an International Baccalaureate at Level 3 in ICT
- OR a Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject
- OR a BTEC Extended Diploma in IT (180 credits)
You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.
If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
