Duties and Responsibilities
  • Build and configure desktop PCs, laptops, and mobile devices for new and existing customers.
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software applications, and security solutions.
  • Support Microsoft Intune deployments, including device enrolment, policy configuration, application deployment, and endpoint management.
  • Manage and support Microsoft 365 environments and associated endpoint technologies.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware faults on desktops, laptops, peripherals, and mobile devices.
  • Perform device imaging, provisioning, and asset tracking activities.
  • Assist with IT projects, hardware refreshes, and technology rollouts.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records of all work completed.
  • Ensure all tasks are carried out in line with company standards and security policies.
  • Keep the workshop clean, organised, and well maintained, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Take responsibility for the proper storage, handling, and management of equipment, tools, and stock within the workshop.

Skills required

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Good computer literacy and keyboard skills.
  • Interest in IT hardware, software and technology.
  • Ability to follow instructions and documented processes.

Qualifications required

GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4 or above.

Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 3 Information Communications Technician, with training in how to:

  • Efficiently operate and control your ICT infrastructure – physical or virtual hardware, software, network services and at a storage.
  • Use infrastructure management tools to automate the provisioning, testing, deployment and monitoring of infrastructure components.
  • Prioritise systems support tasks and monitor and maintaining system performance.
  • Maintain regulatory, legal and professional standards.
  • Support the information systems needs for your business.

Future prospects

Within the first year, we aim for the successful candidate to develop the skills and experience required to begin supporting our Service Desk as a 1st Line IT Support Engineer, alongside their workshop responsibilities. As their knowledge and expertise grow, there will be opportunities to progress further into 2nd Line and 3rd Line IT Support roles, building a long-term career within the company.
