List of duties:
Learning traditional butchery skills and techniques.
Preparing and cutting home-reared beef.
Preparing fresh, locally sourced lamb.
Learning to bone, trim and portion meat.
Preparing steaks, joints, mince, burgers and sausages.
Assisting with making our range of handmade meat products.
Serving and advising customers.
Weighing, pricing and packaging products.
Maintaining high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness.
Stock rotation and storage.
Following food safety, health and safety and allergen procedures.
Keeping the butchery clean and organised.
Working as part of the wider farm shop team.

Qualifications required
Ideally Maths and English GCSE 4/C’s or above.
Training you'll get
Fortnightly delivery, once a week at College to obtain Level 2 Butchery qualification.
Skills officer visit to workplace every 6-8 weeks
Future prospects
The successful apprentice will have the opportunity to develop into a skilled butcher and progress within the Exe Valley Farm Shop butchery. There may be opportunities for continued employment and further training following successful completion of the apprenticeship.
