Trainee Chartered Accountant (ACA) – Level 7 Apprenticeship
Upstreamly Ltd · London
Weekly Hours Worked: Monday - Friday 9 - 5.30
About Company
Upstreamly is a modern chartered accountancy and advisory firm helping ambitious businesses grow with confidence. Headquartered in London, with offices in Aberdeen and Porto, we support clients across the UK and internationally with accounting, tax, advisory and outsourced finance services. We are regulated by ICAEW and are an authorised training employer, committed to developing the next generation of chartered accountants.
Our clients range from entrepreneurial SMEs and fast-growing businesses to international groups operating across multiple jurisdictions. Many operate in innovative sectors including technology, fintech, energy, renewables and university spin-outs.
Many of our clients view us as an extension of their finance function, relying on us not only for compliance services but also for commercial insight and practical business advice. Clients choose us because we combine technical expertise with commercial pragmatism, helping them make better decisions and build stronger businesses.
We are an ambitious and growing firm. In recent years, we have expanded our team, locations and service offering by focusing on client experience, technology, company culture and developing great people.
The Role
Start your career in accountancy while working towards becoming an ICAEW Chartered Accountant.
We are looking for an ambitious graduate to join Upstreamly as a Trainee Chartered Accountant through the Level 7 ICAEW Accountancy Professional Apprenticeship. You will combine hands-on experience within our team with structured professional study through BPP, working towards the ACA qualification.
From the beginning, you will gain practical experience working with real businesses and alongside experienced accountants. Rather than specialising too early, you will have the opportunity to build a broad foundation across accounts, tax and advisory work and understand how different parts of a client's finance function fit together.
Your experience will include areas such as:
preparation of statutory and management accounts
VAT and corporation tax
payroll and tax compliance
management reporting
supporting client queries and day-to-day financial matters
exposure to advisory and wider business projects as your knowledge and experience develop
Our diverse client base means you could be working with businesses across technology, fintech, crypto and blockchain, energy and renewables, software, real estate, manufacturing, FMCG and professional services. While many of our clients are UK-based, a significant number have international operations or ambitions, giving you exposure beyond purely UK accounting.
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for someone at the beginning of their professional career who is ambitious, curious and genuinely interested in developing as a Chartered Accountant.
We will consider graduates from a range of disciplines who can demonstrate a strong interest in accountancy and business and a clear commitment to pursuing the ACA qualification.

Have a strong academic track record and the ability and commitment to succeed in a demanding professional qualification
Be comfortable with numbers, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Communicate clearly and confidently and enjoy working with different people
Be organised, attentive to detail and take responsibility for your work
Be curious, willing to ask questions and keen to learn
Be comfortable with technology and interested in how businesses operate
Previous practical accounting experience is not required, although relevant internships or work experience would be an advantage.
Please note: As this role forms part of the Level 7 ICAEW Accountancy Professional Apprenticeship, applicants must meet the relevant eligibility requirements for the apprenticeship and associated training programme.
