Why legal?

This is one of the most significant changes in professional entry in decades. The solicitor apprenticeship lets you qualify while employed and paid, with fees covered, in a profession that was previously all but closed to non-graduates. Competition is intense, so apply early and widely.

Common questions

Can I become a solicitor through an apprenticeship?

Yes. The Level 7 solicitor apprenticeship takes around six years and leads to full qualification, including the SQE assessments, while you work and earn.

Do I need a law degree?

No — that's the point of the route. You'll need strong A-Levels or equivalent, and the legal training is built into the apprenticeship.

How competitive are legal apprenticeships?

Very. Firms often recruit small numbers and applications open early, so apply as widely as you can.
