Project Controls Apprentice
Powertherm Contract Services Ltd · Sheffield
What is Project Controls?
Every project needs a plan.
What work needs to happen? When does it need to happen? What needs to be ready before it can start? How many people will be needed? Is the project running to plan? What happens when something changes?
Project Controls helps the people managing a project answer these questions.
As you develop, you'll learn how to build and update project programmes, monitor progress, forecast resources and produce information that helps our teams understand how their projects are performing.
What will you be doing?
You'll start by working alongside experienced colleagues and gradually take on more responsibility as your knowledge and confidence develop.
Your experience will include:
• Helping to build and update project programmes using specialist planning software such as Primavera P6.
• Gathering information from project teams and using it to monitor and update progress.
• Producing project reports and helping to develop dashboards.
• Looking ahead at the labour and resources our projects will need.
• Supporting production and fabrication planning at our Sheffield facilities.
• Learning how changes and delays can affect project programmes.
• Using Excel and other systems to organise and analyse project information.
• Visiting project sites and working with the teams delivering the work.
You'll also gain experience with other parts of Powertherm, including Contracts, Commercial, Estimating and Production. This will help you understand how a project develops from the initial tender through to planning, delivery and completion.
We don't expect you to know how to do these things when you join. You'll learn them as part of the role and apprenticeship.
