Job Description:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated apprentice to join our Internal Sales team and begin developing a career within technology and telecommunications sales.
Working alongside experienced Account Managers, you will receive structured training across our products, sales processes and systems while completing your Level 3 IT Technical Salesperson apprenticeship.
The role will initially focus on supporting the management of our existing customer base, including smaller mobile, broadband and VoIP customers. As your knowledge and confidence develop, you will gradually take greater ownership of customer accounts, renewals, sales opportunities and new business activity.
Your responsibilities will include:
Building relationships with existing customers through regular telephone and email contact.
Supporting the management of a portfolio of smaller customer accounts.
Handling general customer and account enquiries.
Keeping customer contact, service and account information accurate and up to date.
Identifying upcoming contract renewals and proactively contacting customers.
Supporting customer retention and straightforward renewal opportunities.
Reviewing existing customer requirements and identifying changes within their business.
Identifying opportunities to cross-sell and upsell additional services, including mobile, connectivity, VoIP, networking and other technology solutions.
Qualifying more complex customer requirements and working alongside experienced Account Managers and technical specialists to progress opportunities.
Supporting inbound sales enquiries received through our website, email and telephone channels.
Researching prospective customers and contacts.
Developing prospecting skills through existing customers, previous customers, local businesses and new prospects.
Learning how to conduct effective discovery conversations and identify genuine customer requirements.
Booking follow-up meetings and progressing qualified leads into sales opportunities.
Maintaining accurate customer notes, leads, opportunities and renewal information within our CRM systems.
Shadowing experienced Account Managers during customer reviews, sales meetings, proposals and negotiations.
You will receive ongoing internal training covering our products and services, prospecting, account management and sales techniques. You will also have opportunities to work alongside technical specialists to develop your understanding of the technology solutions we provide.
As you progress through the apprenticeship, we would expect you to take increasing responsibility for your own customer portfolio and straightforward sales opportunities.
The aim is that by the end of the apprenticeship you will be capable of independently managing a portfolio of smaller customers, identifying and generating new sales opportunities, completing customer account reviews and progressing straightforward opportunities from initial discovery through to close.

Skills required
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Confident and professional telephone manner.
Good basic IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
Comfortable learning and using CRM and other business systems.
Good organisation and time-management skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with customers and colleagues.
Willingness to learn about technology, telecommunications and IT solutions.
Confident approaching and speaking with new and existing customers.
Good attention to detail when maintaining customer and sales information.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a sales team.
Positive, proactive attitude with an interest in developing a career in sales.
Qualifications required
GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
A genuine interest in developing a career in sales, technology and telecommunications.
Previous sales or IT experience is not required, as full training will be provided.

Future prospects
There is a clear opportunity to progress into an Internal Account Manager role following successful completion of the apprenticeship. As experience and confidence develop, the role can progress into managing a larger customer portfolio, generating and managing sales opportunities, and taking greater ownership of revenue growth. Further progression opportunities are available within the wider sales team for individuals who demonstrate strong performance, ambition and commercial ability.
