Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line IT support to users, responding to service desk tickets and requests in line with agreed processes.
  • Assist with user onboarding and offboarding, including account setup, access provisioning, and equipment preparation.
  • Prepare, configure, deploy, and replace end-user devices (PCs, laptops, tablets, and peripherals).
  • Support routine device lifecycle management, including stock control, asset tracking, and hardware refresh activities.
  • Perform initial ticket triage, escalation, and administration to ensure efficient flow through the support function.
  • Assist with administrative IT tasks such as license allocation, basic procurement support, and documentation updates.
  • Provide hands-on support during periods of increased demand, including PC replacement programmes, audits, investigations, and major IT projects.
  • Maintain accurate records within the IT helpdesk system.
  • Develop technical skills across core IT areas under the guidance of senior team members.

Learning & Development

  • Work towards a recognised IT Support / Digital Apprenticeship qualification (via day release or structured training).
  • Gain practical experience across service desk operations, endpoint management, and enterprise IT environments.
  • Build foundational skills in Microsoft 365, endpoint management, and IT service management processes.
  • Learn best practices for security, compliance, and operational efficiency within a regulated manufacturing environment.

Skills required

  • Strong interest in IT and technology, with a desire to build a long-term career in IT support or infrastructure.
  • Basic familiarity with Windows, Microsoft 365, or general IT concepts (formal experience not required).

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Previous exposure to IT support, helpdesk environments, or technical study (school, college, or self-study).
  • Understanding of IT hardware such as PCs, laptops, tablets, and peripherals.
  • Interest in cybersecurity, automation, or emerging technologies such as AI.

Qualifications required

  • GCSE's Maths & English 9-5
  • A-levels A-C desirable

Training you'll get

The ICT apprenticeship will enable you to provide qualitysupport to internal or external customers and troubleshoot system issues tokeep your organisation running at all times.

This apprenticeship has two routes:

The Support Technician role is based around resolving systemuser queries and faults in a helpdesk environment. Support Technicians rectifyor escalate faults rapidly to reduce the impact to their customer.

The Network Technician role is usually desk based but mayinvolve visits to client's premises to resolve issues. Network Technicians maybe installing networked IT systems, including cabling and hardware, or cloudservices to support expansion and better network services.

Our Information Communications Technician apprenticeshipprogramme integrates six modules of technical training with work-basedprojects. This ensures that learning and skills are directly applied to theapprentice’s role, and maximises the time used as part of off-the-job training.

  • Mobile and Operating Systems
  • Technology and Business
  • Scripting and Automation
  • EPA Readiness Training

For each module, learners benefit from attending small,scheduled Live Online classes taught by a subject matter specialist, combinedwith additional online learning that can be completed at their own pace. Eachof our live classes are interactive and involve lots of practical discussion,giving learners quality time both with tutors and industry peers to spark newideas and get new perspectives. Learners get practical lab time to hone theirskills and learn from each other, as well as their tutor.
