The Governance team is responsible for managing the processes and systems supporting formal decision making at the Arts Council. Our work involves servicing formal committee meetings such as our National Council, Executive Board, Performance and Audit Committee and Management Committee.

They are also responsible for the organisation's Conflicts of Interest policy (ensuring that members do not participate in decisions they could directly or indirectly benefit from) appointments of National Council and Performance and Audit Committee members and ensuring that our Governance policy and procedures meet the relevant legal and regulatory frameworks.

The Information Team provide advice and support to all teams within the organisation on matters related to handling information and data, responding to Freedom of Information requests from members of the public and journalists on details we hold, managing data breaches, and offering organisation-wide guidance on data protection.

The Governance Apprentice role will provide administrative support to both teams.

Key responsibilities include:

-Coordinating Freedom of Information (FOI) and GDPR requests, ensuring responses are accurate, timely and compliant with legislation.

-Supporting governance meetings and committees, including agendas, papers, minutes and meeting logistics.

-Maintaining and updating website and intranet content relating to governance and information management.

-Supporting data breach management, records management, archiving, copyright and information security.

-Providing administrative support, including purchase orders, invoice processing and maintaining key records.

-Supporting National Council members, including maintaining records and processing expenses.

-Conducting research into governance, data protection and emerging information-management practices.

-Providing administrative and diary support to the Director of Governance and Planning.

-Supporting responses to Parliamentary Questions and wider Governance and Information team activities.

At Arts Council, you will be working towards a Business Administration Apprenticeship Level 3 over the course of 18 months.

Skills required

-Excellent interpersonal skills-Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workloads (alignment and planning/accountability)-Attention to detail and accuracy (accountability)-Excellent communication skills - speaking, listening and writing-Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems quickly-Ability to use initiative to seek improved ways of working (learning and change)

Qualifications required

Candidates do not need to have previous work experience for this role.
