Service Technician
Qualification: Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle) Level 3
Knowledge you'll gain
- Vehicle technologies including chassis and electrical systems, engines, transmissions, air conditioning and electric vehicles
- Diagnostic principles and logical problem-solving techniques
- Emerging automotive technologies
Competencies you'll develop
- Foundation skills in component removal and replacement
- Workplace safety and procedures
- Diagnostic techniques and use of specialised equipment
Behaviours
- Communicating effectively with customers and colleagues
- Teamwork
- Commercial awareness
- Personal accountability
Additional elements include gaining EU 2014 F-gas regulation certification, and Functional Skills English and Maths to a minimum of Level 2.
Duration
The apprenticeship is expected to take 3 years.
Off-the-job training
Off-the-job training is a statutory requirement, tracked via e-logbook and assessed by a workplace mentor.
End point assessment
Assessment is overseen by an independent awarding body and includes an online knowledge assessment, an observed practical skills test, and a synoptic professional discussion.
