Rise is located in the heart of West Bay, where the River Brit meets the harbour. We’re on our own little island, a hop, skip, and jump over the bridge, surrounded by the water.

Day-to-day duties include, and do not exhaust the following:-

  • Assist the Head Chef with preparation
  • Set up the kitchen with cooking utensils and equipment, like knives, pans and kitchen scales
  • Study each recipe and gather all necessary ingredients
  • Cook food in a timely manner
  • Delegate tasks to kitchen staff
  • Inform wait staff about daily specials
  • Ensure appealing plate presentation
  • Monitor food stock
  • Check the freshness of food and discard out-of-date items
  • Experiment with recipes and suggest new ingredients
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area

Qualifications required

Ideally GCSE English and Maths grade A-C (4-9)

Training you'll get

Course duration depends on which Level 2 course we enrol into (Either Professional or Commis Chef, depending on interview/further discussions regarding menu).

You will be completing your apprenticeship at Exeter College 1 day a week

Future prospects

Progression onto a further apprenticeship (Level 3) and great career opportunities for the right candidate. Learn to cook fresh local seafood, along with many other styles of cuisine from around the world
