This is a full-time, office-based role, Monday to Friday.

About the Role

As an IT Support Apprentice, you will be part of our IT team, helping to ensure that colleagues across the business receive excellent technical support. You will learn how to diagnose and resolve common IT issues, support users with software and hardware, and gain experience working with professional IT systems and processes.

No previous IT work experience is required. We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in technology, a willingness to learn, and a positive attitude.

What You'll Be Doing

IT Helpdesk Support

  • Providing first-line support to colleagues across the business.

  • Responding to IT support requests through our helpdesk system.

  • Learning how to diagnose and resolve hardware, software and network issues.

  • Escalating more complex issues to senior members of the IT team.

User Support

  • Assisting users with password resets and account access.

  • Helping colleagues use business systems and software applications.

  • Providing friendly and professional customer service when resolving IT issues.

Hardware and Software

  • Setting up and configuring laptops, desktops, monitors, printers and other equipment.

  • Assisting with software installations and updates.

  • Supporting the maintenance of IT equipment and asset records.

Documentation and Administration

  • Recording solutions and updates within the helpdesk system.

  • Helping create user guides and IT documentation.

  • Assisting with IT administration tasks and system housekeeping.

Learning and Development

  • Developing knowledge of Microsoft 365, operating systems, networking and cyber security.

  • Working towards your apprenticeship qualification.

  • Learning from experienced IT professionals and gaining exposure to business technologies.

Skills required

Essential

• A keen interest in IT and technology.

• Good problem-solving skills.

• Strong communication skills and a friendly approach.

• A willingness to learn new skills and take on challenges.

• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.

Qualifications required

Desirable

• IT-related qualifications such as GCSE, BTEC, T Level or A Level in Computing or IT.

• Experience building computers, troubleshooting devices, or supporting technology in school, college, home, or through hobbies.

• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 3 Information Communications Technician, with training in how to:

  • Efficiently operate and control your ICT infrastructure – physical or virtual hardware, software, network services and at a storage.

  • Use infrastructure management tools to automate the provisioning, testing, deployment and monitoring of infrastructure components.

  • Prioritise systems support tasks and monitor and maintaining system performance.

  • Maintain regulatory, legal and professional standards.

  • Support the information systems needs for your business.
